Sevenoaks Wildlife Reserve

Lapwing x 3 families: one with 2 part grown chicks on island directly opposite Tyler Hide, and one with 3 part grown chicks (on island to the right of Tyler Hide, later also in the meadow), one with at least 3 fledged birds seen from bench on way to Sutton Hide. Please come in and write your lapwing family sightings in our log book, there may be more families.
Heronry update: The only nest occupied is nest 4 at the back of the island and visible from Carter Hide: 1 chick at nest. Sparrowhawk x 2 (pair), kingfisher x 4 ( a family group of 2 adults and a juvenile visible from Carter Hide and one calling at Long Lake), reed warbler x 4 (Slingsby Hide), bullfinch x 1 (calling main track near Long Lake).

Also today a water rail was reported but not confirmed by the metal bridge near Willow Hide.

Wood sandpiper x 1 (no location specified in the book), coal tit x 1, swift x 3, house martin x 1, swallow x 10, chiffchaff x 5, blackcap x 13, garden warbler x 4, reed warbler x 5, treecreeper x 2.

Tufted duck family with 11 young, little ringed plover x 4, reed warbler x 10 (Slingsby hide, young being fed) also a family seen in reed bed from Tyler Hide, kingfisher x 2, Egyptian goose still with 6 young, swift x 1, heron nest number 2 has 2 well grown young, and nest number 4 has 2 chicks.

swift x 27, swallow x 10, little ringed plover x 5 (including one pair mating), lapwing 2 families (5 young), reed warbler x 8, pochard x 1.
