Grey heron x 4 adults + 6 young (North Lake), lapwing x 8, little ringed plover x 1, mallard x 36 + a brood of 5 young, nuthatch x 1.

Ring ouzel x 2 (male and female in the horses’ field at 9:30 a.m.), little ringed plover x 1, green sandpiper x 1.

Brambling x 1 male, sand martin x 2, swallow, house martin, grey wagtail x 2 (on cottage roof), mistle thrush x 1 (singing opposite Visitor Centre), kestrel x 1 (flew over the East Lake), oystercatcher x 1 (seen from Tyler Hide),

Nesting waterfowl: Great crested grebe x 21 (including nest on West Lake + a chick and an occupied nest on the East Lake). Grey heron nests x 5 occupied nest (1 young seen on nest number 1, 3 on nest number 3 and 1 on nest number 6).  Coot nest visible from Tyler Hide.

Lapwing x 6, little ringed plover x 1, green sandpiper x 1, sand martin x 12, swallow x 8, house martin x 3, grey wagtail x 1, ring ouzel x 2 .

Ring ouzel x 2 (males in the horses’ field visible looking from reserve entrance end), brambling x 2 male  and female (in birch trees beyond Tyler Hide), there was also a report of 12 bramblings in trees by main track close to Willow Hide. Heron nests x 5 occupied.  Red kite x 1 flying over, grey wagtail x 2 (on the islands seen from Tyler Hide),  great crested grebe chicks on West Lake (1 on nest and one on the male’s back).

Report of a bird mimicking the song of a bee-eater , nightingale and chaffinch singing from nettles in Tower Hide Wood and assumed to be a marsh warbler (not seen).

Grey heron nests x 5 occupied nest ( young seen in 2 nests).
