Grey heron nests: nest number 4 adult with one visible chick (best to look from Carter Hide), nest number 6 juvenile on nest.
Lapwing survey: 14 adults from Tyler Hide + 2 recently hatched chicks (2 different families), also witnessed a pair of lapwings mating in the meadow in front of the hide, more lapwings on apparently occupied nests and 1 adult seen from Sutton Hide too.

Great crested grebe x 25 + 1 young, little ringed plover x 4 (Tyler Hide), whitethroat x 1 (singing at entrance gate), reed warbler x 2 singing (one at Slingsby Hide and by a fishing swim on the West Lake close to river outlet), reed bunting x 1 (Slingsby Hide) . Possible nightingale reported by visitors who heard 2 different calls for the species (near Willow Hide).

Heronry update: The only nest occupied is nest 4 at the back of the island and visible from Carter Hide: 1 chick at nest. Sparrowhawk x 2 (pair), kingfisher x 4 ( a family group of 2 adults and a juvenile visible from Carter Hide and one calling at Long Lake), reed warbler x 4 (Slingsby Hide), bullfinch x 1 (calling main track near Long Lake).

Also today a water rail was reported but not confirmed by the metal bridge near Willow Hide.
